Devotional - Dealing with Squabbles! Part 1

“Behold, how good and how pleasant it is for brethren to dwell together in unity!” (Psalms 133:1)
Message:
Is there anything more draining than children or adults that squabble?
Bickering…
Making sarcastic comments…
The attacks often come from insecurity; from being hurt by others; from being over aroused and not regulated; because of not knowing how to respond more appropriately.
There are so many levels we need to work on!
1 tip for this week: Give team chores to the ones that are squabbling!
= remove them from what they are doing and pick from a list of chores something that has to be done together in order for it to be completed.
- This makes for a set of consequences that are easy to implement – that helps you with that meek and gentle spirit!
- Chores are done!
- Others are rewarded by not having to do the chore!
- The longer they oppose each other, the longer it takes to be done so it helps develop team work.
They can then learn what loving relationships look like and work. We can teach them to see their wrong and ask for forgiveness too.
Another tip coming next week!
Point to Ponder:
How calm and regulated are you when others start to squabble? What can you do, sensory wise, to help yourself?
Prayer Pointer:
“Loving Father, it never ceases to amaze me how much you concentrate on relationships – all your ways, your advice, your commands, your exhortations for us to do all we can to live in unity. Thank you for showing us your heart over our relationships. Please give me wisdom, patience and understanding behind behaviours so that I can be the agent to bring peace and not strife into our situation. In Jesus name, Amen!”
